Shooting Mode
Choose a shooting mode according to the scene or type of subject.

The Mode Dial
To select a shooting mode, align the mode icon with the mark next to the
mode dial.
P, S, A, M: Select for full control over cam-
era settings, including aperture (M and A)
and/or shutter speed (M and S) (P 32).
C (CUSTOM): Recall stored settings for
modes P, S, A, and M (P 35).
N (MOTION PANORAMA): Take a series of
photographs and combine them to form
a panorama (P 30).
Adv. (ADVANCED): Sophisticated techniques
made easy (P 25).
SP (SCENE POSITION): Choose a scene suit-
ed to the subject or shooting conditions
and let the camera do the rest (P 29).
M (SCENE RECOGNITION): A “point-
and-shoot mode in which the camera
automatically adjusts settings to suit the
scene (P 18).
B (AUTO): A simple point-and-shoot
mode recommended for first-time users
of digital cameras (P 25).
