This mode can be selected in the 3
photography mode.
Use this setting when you cannot obtain the
correct brightness, such as when the flash does
not reach the subject (is too faint) or when you
are using the flash for a close-up shot.
Correction range: 5 steps
(
0.6 EV to
+
0.6 EV in 0.3 EV increments)

This mode can be selected in the 3
photography mode.
Use the Brightness setting to obtain the optimum
image brightness (exposure) when the subject is
much brighter or darker than the background.
Correction range: 11 steps
(1.5 EV to +1.5 EV in 0.3 EV increments).

The Brightness setting is disabled in the following
situations:
When the flash is used in Auto or Red-Eye Reduction
mode.
When dark scenes are shot in Forced Flash mode.
This mode can be selected in the 3
photography mode.
Use this setting to soften or emphasize outlines
or to adjust the image quality.
Three levels of sharpness are available
HARD : Emphasizes the outlines.
Best for shots of subjects such as
buildings or text where you want
sharp images.
NORMAL : Best for ordinary photography.
Provides edge sharpness that is
ideal for ordinary shots.
SOFT : Softens the outlines.
Best for shots of subjects such as
people, where a softer image is
desirable.

Because the macro and flash settings cannot be
changed once manual focus is set to ON, set the
macro (P.56) and flash (P.52) settings beforehand.
TelephotoWide-angle
Press d ( ) to focus on a nearby subject and
c ( ) to focus on a distant object. Use the
LCD monitor to check the focus.
